RIDERS TOPPED BY WIND SURGE IN RAINSHORTENED CONTEST:
The Frisco RoughRiders were defeated by the Wichita Wind Surge 3-0 after ve innings in a rain-shortened game on Friday night
from Equity Bank Park. Wichita (13-12, 50-44) jumped on top in the bottom of the second when Ricardo Olivar ripped an RBI single to
take a 1-0. Ben Ross then hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth, extending the Wind Surge lead to 3-0. In the top of the
fth, Jacob Wosinski worked a scoreless inning to earn the eventual save. After the games second rain delay, the contest was called
with enough innings for an ocial game. Wichita starter John Klein (7-5) earned the victory, allowing no runs on three hits with ve
strikeouts over ve innings. Frisco (9-16, 47-46) starter David Davalillo (1-2) took the loss, yielding three runs while whing four
across four innings.
PICKING UP THE OFFENSE:
After a tough month in June on oense, hitting .218/.308/.306/.614 with a league-worst 3.4 runs per game and just 13 homers (tied
for second-fewest in the league), the Riders have been better in July. The Riders are third in batting average (.239), fourth in slugging
(.367), fth in OPS (.676), third in home runs (17) and fourth in runs per game (4.6). The Riders are also 27-for-31 in steals during the
month.
HE IS ABIMELECTRIC:
Abimelec Oritz has been on re at the plate in July. In the month, he is hitting .308/.378/.585/.963 over 16 games with six doubles,
four home runs, 10 RBIs and seven walks. In his last seven games, he is batting .464 (13-for-28)/.484/.857/1.341 with four doubles, two
home runs and six RBIs.
WALK IT LIKE I TALK IT:
Aaron Zavala walked twice on Friday, collecting his 207th career walk in a RoughRiders uniform to break the all-time franchise
record, previously held by Guilder Rodriguez. Making it much more impressive, Zavala accomplished the feat in 312 games with
a 15.1 percent walk rate over four seasons (2022-2025) while Rodriguez needed 524 RoughRiders games from 2009-2015 and a 9.8
percent walk rate.
HOLD ME CLOSE AND DON’T LET GO:
In their last 13 games, the RoughRiders have had the lead or a tie game in the eighth inning in 11 of the 13 games, but they are 5-8.
The Riders have blown six saves during that span. Their bullpen ERA of 4.99 in July is last in all of Double-A.
K-ROD ON FIRE:
Keyber Rodriguez has been swinging a hot bat for the Riders recently. Since June 15th, in his last 24 games, he is hitting .341 (30-
for-88)/.420/.420/.840 with seven doubles, ve RBIs, 11 walks, 11 runs scored, 11 walks and just 12 strikeouts. In July, he is batting
.308 (16-for-52) over 14 games.
CAULEY! CAULEY, CAULEY ANYTIME:
Cam Cauley has been incredible for the RoughRiders lately on oense. In his last 61 games since May 7th, he is batting
.272/.333/.464/.797 with 17 doubles, eight home runs, 25 RBIs and 15 stolen bases. In his last 25 games, he is slashing
.292/.339/.519/.858 with seven doubles, ve home runs, 14 RBIs, 19 runs scored and seven steals.
SWIPE CITY:
The RoughRiders have now stolen at least one base in 23 of their last 26 games. Over those 26 games, they have stolen 45 total
bases, which is tied for second in the league. Sebastian Walcott is rst in the league with 12 steals in that span while Cam Cauley is
seventh with eight. Overall this season, the Riders are fourth in the league with 113 stolen bases.
WALLY’S WORLD:
Rangers top prospect Sebastian Walcott has showed o incredible consistency this season. In April, he hit .244 with a .766 OPS, in
May, produced a .257 average and .811 OPS, but struggled with extra-base hits in June, hitting .239, but just a .640 OPS. This season,
his walk rate of 12.2 percent is a career high while he is striking out at just 21.6 percent, a career low. This season, he is on pace for
34 steals over 124 games, which would best his prior career high of 27 last year. The only teenagers since 2005 to steal 30 or more
in Double-A are Elvis Andrus (51, 2008), Jackson Chourio (43, 2023), Nelson Rada (35, 2024) and Mike Trout (31, 2011). Chourio was
the only one on that list with 30+ stolen bases and double-digit home runs (22). Walcott participated in the Futures Game for the
second season in a row over the All-Star Break, going 0-for-1 with a sacrice y and a groundout to shortstop while playing third
base defensively. Over an 11-game on-base streak, he is hitting .273 (12-for-44)/.347/.477/.824 with one double, one triple, two home
runs and 10 RBIs.
