The workshop began with an exploration of the energising
power of positive feedback. Participants were invited to give
positive feedback to one another, focusing on genuine
strengths and contributions. This exercise not only deepened
their awareness of the impact of affirming others but also
allowed them to personally experience the energising benefits
of giving and receiving positive feedback. They observed how
this feedback boosted their energy levels and increased their
desire to engage with complex and challenging tasks. This
activity demonstrated how positive feedback can foster
engagement, productivity and connection.
The session then explored evidence based approaches to
delivering feedback to facilitate growth and development.
Participants learned about the neurobiological impact of
feedback, including how to mitigate the threat response. The
discussion highlighted the importance of leveraging positive
relationships to create a culture of dynamic information flow,
where insights and feedback are exchanged freely across all
levels of the firm. A key takeaway was the critical role reciprocity
plays in a growth-oriented culture—ensuring that feedback
flows both ways to drive learning and development.
Participants were then introduced to the Radical Candor
framework, a practical and actionable approach to balancing
care and candour in feedback conversations. This framework
emphasised the importance of being both direct and
compassionate to ensure feedback is both developmental and
relationship-enhancing. The workshop culminated in lively role-
playing exercises anchored to realistic workplace scenarios,
where participants practised applying the Radical Candor
framework in a supportive, hands-on environment. These
exercises allowed participants to build confidence, experiment
with their new skills, and experience firsthand how thoughtful
feedback can transform workplace dynamics.
The use of two feedback frameworks gave
participants the guidance and tools to
approach feedback conversations with clarity
and purpose.
Attendees gained a renewed awareness of
the impact of insufficiently candid feedback
and how it affects the recipient’s development
and engagement.
Participants reported a renewed commitment
to strengthening the firm’s feedback culture
to further develop and connect the teams at
the firm.

“I absolutely loved delivering
this workshop for Hudson
Gavin Martin. The genuine
care the team has for one
another was evident
throughout, and it was
incredibly rewarding to
witness their shifts in
perspective—particularly
around embracing more
candour in their feedback to
support deeper growth and
development. Their positive
energy and engaged attitude
made the session not only
impactful but also lively and
fun. Hearing how much they
gained from the workshop
was a testament to their
commitment to continuous
improvement.”
