President, Maryland ASBO
Members of MD ASBO,
It seems like time moves at such a fast rate that if you blink it has passed you by.
This year has come and gone, and we are approaching our last big event of the
year. Our fall conference was a huge success. Here is to hope for a successful spring
conference to follow.
It has truly been a pleasure to serve this past year as President of MD ASBO. The
opportunities to meet new colleagues and reunite with the friends I have made over
the years as a member of this organization are irreplaceable. This has been a year I
will never forget.
As we face new challenges with budgets, it becomes even more important to nd
ways to develop our skills in our selected eld and in the leadership role we have
been asked to serve. Learning is a lifetime experience we can look forward to, each
and every day of our lives.
Many thanks to all of those who have made this year a successful one for MD ASBO.
Each and every member who takes the time to volunteer in any capacity makes our
success possible. We have an incredible executive director and oce assistant who
make sure we are always one step ahead.
Thanks to all of you. This will be a year I will never forget.
Gregory B. Go

Ballroom, immediately
following lunch, for our
71st Annual Conference
Keynote Speaker, Je
Feyerer, M.Ed., Assistant
Superintendent of Finance and Operations at
Fairview School District 72 in Illinois.
Je will discuss ”Leadership from Lasso:
Building Teams, Culture, and Success the Ted
Lasso Way
Great leadership isnt about tactics or titles—
it’s about people. Inspired by the unexpected
wisdom of Ted Lasso, Je will explore how
lessons learned from the show have aected
him and his idea of what leadership is.
The presentation will explore his “Lasso
Triangle of Leadership,” how positive
leadership, culture-building, and authentic
connection can drive real success in teams
and organizations. Whether you’re leading
your district, a classroom, or a little league
team, you’ll walk away with actionable insights
to cultivate a winning culture, empower your
people, and lead with purpose. Because
sometimes, the best leaders don’t have all the
answers—but they do believe in the people
around them.

Authentic, Real-World Learning in Action: Re-Envisioning Career and Technical Education
Presented by: Allison Leighton, Allison McElheny, and Joe Cellucci, Quinn Evans, Architects; Mac Beaton,
Director of Career and Technical Education, Henrico County Public Schools, VA, and Ann Miller, Maryland
School for the Deaf
Description: Long considered an alternative to the traditional college-pathway, Career Technical Education
(CTE) is becoming a way in which students can cultivate skillsets that transcend the boundaries of post-
secondary education. CTE programs across the nation are experiencing a renaissance as they transition
from traditional technical training to authentic, hands-on learning, focused on preparing students for
contemporary careers. Methods for delivering this type of real-world, skills-based learning vary based
on the CTE Career pathway as well as the school system oering the program. In this session, CTE school
leaders and designers at Quinn Evans will review case studies from two dierent school systems, the Henrico
County, VA School Division’s ACE (Advanced Career Education) Centers and The George W. Veditz Vocational
School at The Maryland School for the Deaf. These recent case studies of new and renovated spaces have
re-envisioned Career Technical Education programs, and the learning spaces themselves to focus on
collaboration between career pathways, connections with local business communities, and modeling real-
world professional work environments.
There continues to be technological advancements in CTE. Schools, regardless of their delivery method,
must evolve to meet these changing needs in ways that work for a wide variety of learners and expand
opportunities within their individual communities.
Learning Objectives: 1) Understand how CTE delivery can be adapted to a variety of educational contexts;
2) Learn how fully integrated learning environments connect CTE programs to the larger community through
entrepreneurship and real-world projects; 3) Illustrate design principles that are critical to creating optimal
learning environments for CTE programs; and 4) Demonstrate how to empower students by promoting
equitable access to careers through alternative learning pathways.

Blueprint Compliance Starts
with Smarter Resource Allocation
Maryland districts are under pressure to meet the Blueprint’s 75% rule,
which requires districts to show that most funds in eight Blueprint
categories are spent at school sites—not just budgeted centrally. But when
dollars that benefi t students are managed through the central offi ce, they
can get recorded in the wrong place. That disconnect can make compliant
spending look noncompliant.
PowerSchool can help you build clear, rules-based allocation models
that attribute dollars where the impact actually happens. Our integrated
platform—now including Allovue—gives you the structure, visibility,
and fl exibility to align resources to student needs, satisfy reporting
requirements, and adapt confi dently as projections shift.
