Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Prayer to St. Joseph,
Patron of the Universal Church
O glorious Saint Joseph
you were chosen by God to be
the foster-father of Jesus, the
Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
and head of the Holy Family.
You have been chosen by Christ’s
Vicar as the Heavenly Patron and
Protector of the Church founded
by Christ. Therefore, with the
greatest confidence, we implore
your powerful intercession for
the whole Church today.
Guide in a special manner,
our Holy Father and all bishops,
priests, deacons, and all members
of the Body of Christ who try
to live the Gospel message.
Be our Protector amid the trials and
tribulations of this life. Obtain
for us great purity of heart and a
fervent love for the spiritual life.
Grant that, after your example,
all our actions may be directed to the
greater glory of God, in union with
the Sacred Heart of Jesus
the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
and your own paternal heart.
Finally, pray for us that we may
share in the peace and joy of your
holy death, in the company of
Jesus and Mary. Amen.

Dear Parishioners,
The Jubilee of 2025: Pilgrims of Hope
The Holy Father has announced that 2025 will be a Jubilee Year, something which happens every 25 years.
The theme for Jubilee 2025 is “Pilgrims of Hope,” and it will be a year of hope for a world suffering the
impacts of war, the ongoing effects of COVID-19 pandemic, and the climate crisis.
What is a Jubilee year?
We can find an early indication of it in the Bible: (Leviticus 25:8-13). A Jubilee year was to be marked every
50 years. Tt was intended to be marked as a time to re-establish a proper relationship with God, with one an-
other, and with all of creation, and involved the forgiveness of debts, the return of misappropriated land, and a
fallow period for the fields.
How can we celebrate the Jubilee?
There are various ways to celebrate the Jubilee:
Pilgrimage, Liturgy, Holy Doors, Indulgence, Reconciliation and Prayer
How is our parish going to celebrate this Jubilee of Hope?
We are going to have a special Forty Hour Devotion during Lent in celebration of the Jubilee of hope
March 30-April 2nd.
In 40 Hours Devotion, the consecrated Eucharist is exposed on the altar in a monstrance for adoration for
40 hours. The tradition is tied to repentance. This devotion will be broken up over a period of three days, with
an opening Mass and closing Mass on the first and third days.
40 Hours Devotion comes from the 40 hours that Christ’s body traditionally rested in the tomb.
40 is a significant number in the Bible, often tied to trials and/or suffering: the Israelites wandered in the
desert for 40 years, and Christ was tempted in the desert for 40 days prior to the start of his ministry.
The theme for our 4O Hours will be JESUS OUR HOPE: Living out the theological virtues of Charity,
Faith and Hope. This devotion will highlight Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati (will be canonized in July 2025),
Blessed Carlo Acutis (will be canonized in April 2025) and St. John Paul II.
Pilgrimage
We will participate in the Diocesan Pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in
Washington DC on Saturday, October 25, 2025. More information will follow.
