How to le your FinCEN BOIR

The informaon you’ll need before you start is the name, address, and EIN of the enty; and

the legal name, address, birthdate, and a copy of a state or local issued ID (drivers’ license is

easiest) for the one lling out the applicaon and each benecial owner. A benecial owner is

someone who exercises substanal control over the enty or is a 25% or more owner. See

ncen.gov/boi-faqs#D_1 for more info.

First, go to ncen.gov/boi

Click on the “File a report…” buon.

Then click either the “GET STARTED” buon or the “le BOIR” buon. They’ll both take you to

the same place.

Click the “File Online BOIR”. You can instead le by lling out then uploading a pdf, but the steps

in the walkthrough are essenally the same.

Click on the “I Agree” buon.

Click that you are ling an inial report, then “next”.

Fill in your enty name (line 5),

including any DBAs (line 6). Your

tax ID type will be your EIN (lines

7-8). Fill in the state where your

enty was set up (probably

Hawaii) (lines 10a and 10b) and

your enty’s business address

(lines 11-15).

If your enty was set up before

January 1st 2024, click the “Exisng

reporng company” buon, skip

this secon, and click next.

On the next page, enter each benecial

owner’s informaon. You can add

addional people by clicking the “Add

Benecial Owner” buon at the top of

the page. This is also where you upload

the ID for each benecial owner.

The person lling out the report

puts their name and email,

completes the captcha, and hits the

“Submit BOIR” buon. You’ll get a

conrmaon screen, and make sure

to download a copy of the report.
