The Orioles have two players on the
AL squad, including starng catcher

reliever Billy O’Dell is the hero as he

pitches for a save as the AL wins, 4-3.
Balmore nave Eddie Rommel, a
13-year pitcher and 21-year umpire
in the majors, calls balls and strikes.
July 8, 1971 - Frank Robinson gets
career hit No. 2,500, a three-run
homer o Horacio Pena, in a 7-3
win over Washington at Memorial
Stadium
THIS DATE IN O'S HISTORY
BIRDLAND BITES: Balmore returns home to nish the pre-All-Star break schedule with a six-
game homestand that begins tonight at Camden Yards with the Mets (3 to play) and Marlins
(3 to play)...The Orioles just completed a three-game sweep of the Braves over the holiday
weekend at Truist Park and went 4-2 on the road trip that began in Texas (1-2).
The Orioles are 21-13 (.618) since May 30, the fourth-best winning percentage in MLB
behind the Astros (.714, 25-10), Blue Jays (.714, 25-10), and Brewers (.647, 22-12)
during that me.
The O's swept the Braves for the rst me since July 27-29, 2015 (3 G) and for the rst
me in Atlanta since June 11-13, 1999 (3 G)...Marks the club's rst sweep of an NL team
since May 3-5, 2024 at Cincinna (3 G)...This is the rst winning streak of at least three
games against NL team since May 8-11, 2024 (3 G).
Jackson Holliday went 4-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer on Sunday, the rst
Oriole to be perfect at the plate with at least four at bats and mulple extra-base hits
since Emmanuel Rivera (9/28/24 at MIN, 4-for-4, 1 2B, 2 HR).
Trevor Rogers red 6.2 scoreless inning on Sunday to lower his ERA to 1.57...Among
major league pitchers who have made at least ve starts since May 24, his season
debut, Rogers has the sixth-best ERA in the majors behind DET's Tarik Skubal (1.12),
PHI's Ranger Suárez (1.20), PIT's Paul Skenes (1.33), HOU's Hunter Brown (1.49), and
CHC's Mahew Boyd (1.49).
Balmore is 10-5 (.667) at home since May 30, ed for h in the MLB in that period...
Prior to this stretch, the O's were 9-17 (.346) at home, beer than only the Athlecs
(.321, 9-19) and Rockies (.214, 6-22) through May 29.
ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTIONS: The Orioles have posted a .738 OPS against right-handed
pitching, the eighth-highest mark in MLB, including fourth in the AL behind the Yankees (.782
OPS), Rays (.751 OPS), and Tigers (.739 OPS)…The Birds have registered a .775 OPS against right-
handed starters, ranking h in MLB, while their .687 OPS o right-handed relievers ranks 22nd.
Since June 11, Balmore is slashing .268/.331/.419 o le-handed pitching, including
a .750 OPS, which ranks 14th in MLB…The Birds entered that stretch with an MLB-low
.555 OPS o southpaws, with the next closest team being the Guardians (.595 OPS).
FIREMEN: Balmore relievers own an MLB-best 18.4 percent inherited scored rate (25
IRS/136 IR), ahead of Los Angeles-NL (22.2%)…Keegan Akin (4.2%, 1 IRS/24 IR) and Seranthony
Domínguez (5.0%, 1 IRS/20 IR) have the two best inherited runners scored percentage in the
majors, while Bryan Baker's 11.1 percent clip (2 IRS/18 IR) is ed for h.
Both Akin's and Domínguez's marks would set the single season franchise record (since
1954), currently held by Mark Thurmond (10.5%, 1988)...Since 1974, only ve relievers
have nished a full season with an inherited scored rate below 5.0 percent during the
year (excluding 2020, 1981, 1995, & 1994): SF's Josh Osich in 2016 (4.7%), HOU's Wilton
Lopez in 2010 (3.0%), and AZ's Jorge De La Rosa in 2017 (3.0%).
As a club, the 18.4 percent mark would be the lowest gure in a full-season by any MLB
club since the stasc was rst tracked in 1974…The only team with a lower mark since
then was the 1995 Cleveland Indians (17.7%, strike-shortened), while the 2020 Tampa
Bay Rays (COVID-19 pandemic) also had an 18.7 percent clip.
WALK THIS WAY: The Orioles have walked at least once in a franchise-record 167 consecuve
games since July 2, 2024, breaking the previous mark of 155 games set from June 23, 1955-June
24 (G1), 1956…That's the longest acve stretch in the majors ahead of the Yankees (57 G) and
Tigers (43 G) and the longest by an MLB team since the Giants, who had a 204-game stretch
from July 6, 2002-August 22, 2003.
HEY NOW, YOU'RE AN ALL-STAR: On Wednesday, it was announced that Ryan O'Hearn defeated
NYY's Ben Rice in Phase 2 vong for the 95th annual All-Star Game, cemenng his rst career All-
Star Game selecon and earning a starng spot at designated hier for the American League.
O'Hearn joins Nelson Cruz (2014) as the only Balmore designated hiers to earn a
fan elecon.
According to Stats Perform, O’Hearn, at 31 years old, will be the second Oriole to start
in his rst career All-Star Game at age-30 or older since the team moved to Balmore in
1954 along with Steve Stone, who was 32 when he was the AL starng pitcher in 1980.
The Orioles have claimed a total of 46 fan elecons since fan ballong returned in 1970,
trailing only the Yankees (75) and Red Sox (59) among AL clubs.
DRAFT WEEK: The 2025 MLB First-Year Player Dra begins with the rst three rounds taking
place on Sunday while rounds 4-20 will happen on Monday...The Orioles hold six selecons on
day one, ed with the Rays for the most on opening night...Balmore has three of the top 31
picks with No. 19, No. 30, and No. 31, as well as No. 58, No. 69, and No. 93.
STEP RIGHT UP: The O's and Mets meet for their only series of the season this week at Oriole
Park...Balmore dropped two of three games at Ci Field last season, losing both games in walk-
o fashion...The Orioles swept the last series between the clubs at Camden Yards from August
4-6, 2023 and have won seven of the last 10 home matchups against the Mets since August 19,
2015...Overall, the Birds are 20-30 (.400) against New York-NL since the teams rst met in 1997.
Balmore advanced to its second World Series in four years in 1969 against New York-
NL; despite going 109-54 (.673) in the regular season, the best winning percentage in
team history, the Orioles lost the series, 4-1, to the Mets.
Cedric Mullins is slashing .409/.447/.568 (18-for-44) with ve doubles and one triple
in 13 career games against the Mets...The 1.015 OPS is his highest against a single
opponent (min. 10 G).
Balmore Assistant Hing Coach Tommy Joseph was a minor league hing coach in the
Mets organizaon for Double-A Binghamton in 2022 and Single-A St. Lucie in 2021.
Orioles Director, Lan American Scoung Gerardo Cabrera served in various roles in the
amateur scoung process with the Mets in the Dominican Republic from 2009-19.
Mets Strategy Coach Danny Barnes Signed a minor league contract with the Orioles in 2020,
but did not pitch due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
