Day2‐April23:ArriveinRome/Assisi
Uponarrivalinthe"EternalCity"ofRome,wewillbe
metbyourlocaltourdirectorandtransferredbycoach
northtoAssisi.ThistownwelcomesusinthespiritofSt.
Francis and St. Clare into its peaceful interior. After
check‐in at our hotel, we’ll celebrate Mass at a local
churchwiththefreebalanceoftheday.(D)
Day3‐April24:Assisi
Thismorning,we’llvisitSt.MaryoftheAngelsBasilica,
thesiteofthePorziuncola,thetinychurchinthewoods
whereSt.FrancisbeganhisministryandwhereSt.Clare
beganherreligiouslife.ThenproceedtotheBasilicaof
St.FranciswheretheSaintliesinrest,theBasilicaofSt.
ClareandtheConventofSanDamiano.Forthosewith
the stamina, walk up Monte Subasio to Eremo delle
Carceri, the Saint's favorite retreat. Overnight in
Assisi.(B)
Day4‐April25:Assisi/Norcia/Cascia/Assisi
Afterbreakfast,we’lldepartfortheenchantingtownof
Norcia,nestledinthescenicmountainsofUmbria.Here,
we’ll see where St. Benedict and his twin sister St.
Scholasticawereborn.We'llvisittheMonasteryand,
afterMass,drivetoCascia,wherewe'llvisittheShrine
of St. Rita and venerate the Eucharistic Miracle of
Cascia.ReturntoAssisi.(B)
Day5‐April26:Assisi/Siena/Assisi
Today,we’lltakeafull‐dayexcursiontoSiena,thehome
ofSt.Catherine.Here,we'llvisitthesanctuarybuilton
thesiteofherhomeandcelebrateMassattheChurch
ofSanDomenicowheresheliesinrest.We'llalsovisit
theDuomowhichisoneofItaly'sgreatestcathedrals,
the Basilica of St. Francis where we'll venerate the
EucharisticmiracleofSienaandthePiazzadelCampo
whichisoneofthemostbeautifulsquaresintheworld.
We’ll have some free time in Siena before driving to
MontepulcianotovisitthesanctuaryofSt.Agnes,built

Day6‐April27:Assisi/Orvieto/Rome
DepartAssisithismorninganddrivesouthtoOrvieto
wherewe'llvisittheSignorelliChapelintheCathedralof
Orvieto and venerate the sacred Eucharistic miracle.
We’llthencontinueourdrivesouthtothe“EternalCity”
of Rome. Upon arrival we’ll enjoy visits to the Trevi
Fountain,whereacointhrownoveryourshoulderwill
guaranteeyouanothervisittoRome,thePantheon,and
the Piazza Navona with its famous fountains
designedbyBernini.Wewillthendrivetoourhotelfor

Day7‐April28:Rome
Thismorning,we'llvisittheChurchoftheGesu(Chiesa
delGesu),whichisconsideredoneofthebestexamples
ofRomanBaroquearchitecture.Oneofthemost
strikingpartsofthetempleisthemagnificentinterior
decorated with frescoes, marble, and gilded stucco.
ContinueourvisittoseetheChapelofSt.Ignatiusof
Loyola, a prime example of Roman Baroque
architecture; in this chapel, the saint's tomb is
decoratedwithsilver,gold,bronze,marble,andsome
uniquestones.Thisafternoon,oursightseeingofRome
includes visits to the Roman Forum, the Colosseum
(viewfromoutside),St.PeterinChainsfeaturing
Michelangelo's "Moses," and St. Paul's Outside the
Walls,initiallybuiltbyConstantineinthefourthcentury
overthesiteofSt.Paul'stomb.(B)
Day8‐April29:Rome
We’lldrivetotheVaticanthismorningandcelebrate
MassatSt.Peter'sBasilica.WethenmakeourwaytoSt.
John Lateran and the nearby Scala Santa, which,
according to tradition, was the staircase that Jesus
climbed to be judged by Pontius Pilate. We then
proceed to St. Mary Major, and the San Calisto
Catacombs for a visit before returning to our hotel.
This evening we will enjoy dinner at a local
restaurant.(B/D)

ReturntotheVaticanandattendthePapalAudiencein
St.Peter'sSquare(ifavailable).We’lljointhousandsof
pilgrimsfromthroughouttheworldtolistentotheHoly
Fatherandreceivehisblessing.Intheafternoon,our
guidewilltakeusthroughtheVaticanMuseumandthe
SistineChapelwhichhasawesomefrescoespaintedby
Michelangelo.Weconcludethedaywithaguidedwalk
throughtheVatican Gardensbeforereturningtoour
