Pre- Covid
Covid
Pre- Covid
Covid
Covid had a negative effect on class size, the way that NMTTCP
handle this was by offering more classes. TTCP also offered more
fast track (streamline certifications).
The positive of covid is that it made us think of alternative
ways of training. NM did not want to provide virtual training
so it forced us to provide more in person classes, our in person
class size was determined by the size of the classroom, class
size ranged from 4-8 attendees.
Another positive result was cleanliness of classrooms and
equipment.
Covid forced attendees to sanitize more frequently, they wore a
mask and they maintained social distancing, the result was that
the instructors and staff were healthier.
Technician Training/Certification Program Certifications
First two times a technician certifies, certificate is valid for three
complete calendar years.
EXAMPLE: Certification date 7/7/20-Expires 12/31/23
Third time certifying if the written exam score is 85% or
greater the certificate is valid for five years. Written Exam
scores lower than 85% certificate is valid for three years.
If a technician is certifying for the first time or if they are
recertifying the technician is required to pass a 120
question written exam and a hands on exam.
Technician Training/Certification Program Certifications is going to
reconnect with New Mexico State University (NMSU). TTCP has
seen that this networking has had a positive effect on the construction
Industry. TTCP is also going to reconnect with our local high schools
so that we can introduce the road construction industry to talent that
may not have known that this industry was an option.
