Theme 2025: Time for Gods peace
Together we are Pilgrims of Hope
The Pilgrims of Hope 2025-2030 is an invitation to unite
with others to create hope for our own sake and for the
world.
The theme of the campaign Pilgrims of Hope has been
inspired by the Catholic Jubilee Year 2025. The cam-
paign is initiated by the ecumenical pilgrimage associat-
ion PaxWalk and is intended as a continuous process
over five years.
Saint Olav - 1000 years
In the year 1030, Saint Olav died in Stiklestad. The
cathedral in Nidaros, where he was buried, became the
foremost pilgrimage destination in the Nordic countries.
1000 years later, we as pilgrims can draw inspiration
from the Christian tradition that unites our Nordic
countries.
Sustained by hope
At the same time, we look forward to what is coming,
the reality that is possible. We can be sustained by
hope but also sustain hope.
Time for God's peace
This year, 2025, marks the commemoration of the
ecumenical council in Nicaea in 325, as well as the
Ecumenical Meeting in Stockholm in 1925. The theme
that the Christian Ecumenical Council of Sweden has
chosen for the celebration is Time for God's peace. That
will also be this year's theme for the campaign Pilgrims
of Hope.
A sustainable world - beyond 2030?
2030 is the year when the UN's 17 Global Sustainable
Development Goals are to be fulfilled. This presents us
with the questions that pilgrims have always asked:
Where do we come from and where are we going?
How can we work towards a future worth hoping for?
