EPIPHANY
We begin our 2025 Jubilee Year of pilgrimages by commemorating
the rst pilgrimage in the Christian tradition: the journey of the
Magi (the three wise men) to visit the infant Jesus. The Epiphany
commemorates God’s revelation in Jesus Christ to all nations
of the world. Amid many conicts throughout the years,
the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem stands as a reminder
of God’s incarnated love for all humanity, through which he
shares our joys and sorrows.

OUR LADY OF LOURDES
Each year, millions of pilgrims visit Lourdes, France. This place
of pilgrimage dates back to 1858, when a little peasant girl,
Bernadette Soubirous, experienced eighteen visions of the
Virgin Mary. Thereaer, a spring of water appeared, and
miraculous healings were reported by those who came to the
water. Lourdes was declared an ocial pilgrimage site in 1862.
People continue to come from all over the world seeking
health of mind, body, and spirit.

Holy Sepulchre is among the holiest places of pilgrimage for
Christians. Emperor Constantine built the church in the 4th

ancient walking paths that lead to the Cathedral of Santiago de
Compostela in Spain, the burial place of Saint James the Greater,
one of Jesus’ Apostles. The most popular route extends 500 miles,
where thousands complete the journey each year.

the founder of the Franciscan Order. His commitment to the poor

OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe situated in
Mexico City, annually draws more pilgrims than any other
Catholic pilgrimage site in the world. Dedicated to the patroness
of the Americas, the basilica houses the original, miraculous
image of Our Lady of Guadalupe imprinted on the cloak of
Saint Juan Diego following his apparitions in 1531.
