EPIPHANY
We begin our 2025 Jubilee Year of pilgrimages by commemorating
the rst pilgrimage in the Christian tradition: the journey of the
Magi (the three wise men) to visit the infant Jesus. The Epiphany
commemorates Gods revelation in Jesus Christ to all nations
of the world. Amid many conicts throughout the years,
the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem stands as a reminder
of Gods incarnated love for all humanity, through which he
shares our joys and sorrows.
s
And behold, the star that they
had seen at its rising preceded them,
until it came and stopped over
the place where the child was.

OUR LADY OF LOURDES
Each year, millions of pilgrims visit Lourdes, France. This place
of pilgrimage dates back to 1858, when a little peasant girl,
Bernadette Soubirous, experienced eighteen visions of the
Virgin Mary. Thereaer, a spring of water appeared, and
miraculous healings were reported by those who came to the
water. Lourdes was declared an ocial pilgrimage site in 1862.
People continue to come from all over the world seeking
health of mind, body, and spirit.

Ever Immaculate Virgin Mother of Mercy,
Health of the sick, refuge of sinners,
Comforter of the aicted, you know
my wants, my troubles, my suerings;
look with mercy on me.
Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for me.

OUR LADY OF KNOCK
Located in Ireland, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Knock stands as
a national shrine and a pilgrimage site due to an extraordinary
event in 1879—an apparition witnessed by multiple villagers who
described seeing the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, Saint John
the Evangelist, angels, and Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God.
s
Our Lady of Knock Queen of Ireland, you
have inspired countless pilgrims to pray with
condence to your Son, remembering His
promise; ‘Ask and you shall receive, seek and
you shall nd.’ Help me to remember that
we are all pilgrims on the road to heaven.
Our Lady of Knock, pray for us.

HOLY SEPULCHRE
Located in the heart of Jerusalem, the Church of the
Holy Sepulchre is among the holiest places of pilgrimage for
Christians. Emperor Constantine built the church in the 4th
century to honor the sacred site of Jesus’ crucixion, known as
Calvary and the tomb where he was buried and out of which he
rose from the dead. It has been a place of pilgrimage for centuries.

BASILICA OF SAINT PETER
Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City is the spiritual heart
of the Catholic Church. The tomb of Saint Peter is believed to be
located beneath its main altar. The Basilica and surrounding Saint
Peter’s Square are used for liturgies celebrated by the Pope, which
attract millions of pilgrims from around the world each year.
s
“You are Peter, and upon this rock I will
build my church, and the gates of the
netherworld shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the kingdom of
heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall
be bound in heaven; and whatever you
loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
The Camino de Santiago (“The Way of St. James”) is a network of
ancient walking paths that lead to the Cathedral of Santiago de
Compostela in Spain, the burial place of Saint James the Greater,
one of Jesus’ Apostles. The most popular route extends 500 miles,
where thousands complete the journey each year.
s
Oh, God, as we walk in the love of your
name to Santiago de Compostela. Be for us
our companion on the walk, our guide at
the crossroads, our protection in danger,
our light in the darkness, so that with your
guidance we may arrive, safe and sound,
at the end of the road.
Amen.

Great Mother of God,
Help us to rediscover all the simplicity and
dignity of the Christian vocation. Sanctify
families. Watch over the souls of the young
and the hearts of the children.
I entrust the whole Church in
your maternal heart. Amen.

ASSISI
Assisi, Italy is the little town that gave rise to Saint Francis,
the founder of the Franciscan Order. His commitment to the poor
and his rich spiritual legacy continue to speak to the hearts of
many. Each year, pilgrims ock to this peaceful place to visit its
many sacred sites, including the Basilica of St. Francis,
where great saint’s tomb is located.
s
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe situated in
Mexico City, annually draws more pilgrims than any other
Catholic pilgrimage site in the world. Dedicated to the patroness
of the Americas, the basilica houses the original, miraculous
image of Our Lady of Guadalupe imprinted on the cloak of
Saint Juan Diego following his apparitions in 1531.
s
Am I not here, I who have the honor to
be your mother? Are you not under my
protection? Are you not in the hollow of
my mantle, in the crossing of my arms?
Let nothing else worry you.

By displaying this calendar in your home or workplace, you are
joining millions of people in supporting the important work of
Catholic Extension. While Catholic Extensions calendars provide
beautiful art, traditional devotions and liturgical information to
many households, they also serve another very crucial purpose:
100 percent of the proceeds go directly to build up vibrant and
transformative Catholic faith communities among the poor in the
poorest regions of America.
Since 1905, Catholic Extension has worked in solidarity with people just like you to
ensure that the Catholic Churchs spiritual, social and pastoral care reaches all areas of
our country. From the fishing villages along Alaskas Bering Sea coast to the mountain
villages of Puerto Rico and in hundreds of Catholic communities in between, we support
people who are rich in faith but poor in resources. With the help of our donors and with
the proceeds of these calendars, we provide critical funding to build churches, educate
Catholic leaders and fund ministries in the oen-overlooked communities of our country.
Each year, our support reaches 15 million Catholics across 87 dioceses that are
geographically and culturally diverse. Visit us at catholicextension.org or call us at
800-842-7804. Find out how you can help the Catholic Churchs inspiring work through
support of Catholic Extension.
Yours in Christ,
Reverend John J. Wall, President
