Epic Historic Adventures: Fearless Frederic
by Felice Arena
Historical Novels Society
This exciting tale should entice young readers, especially boys, to start reading and keep
going to the end. It has a freshness and engaging movement from one scene to the next.
The contrast between Frederic’s comparative innocence and Claire’s hard-won life
experience is especially notable. I recommend this as a gift for anyone trying to encourage
young people to open and enjoy a book.
Children’s Literature Comprehensive Database
The story of Frederic and his journey from grief to restoration is a powerful one filled with
hope. The adventures of the three intrepid youngsters are engaging and exciting. The
portrayal of the actual Great Flood of Paris is both historically accurate and enhances to
plot. In the end, Fearless Frederic comes across as a solid mystery tale that features young
heroes trying to get by in a troubled world. Readers who enjoy adventure, mystery, or
historical fiction will appreciate Frederic’s saga and may wish to check out the other books in
