poets like William Shakespeare and Robert
Browning, musicians like Beethoven, and painters
like Leonardo da Vinci. It is also involved in the
history of different religions. The law of attraction
has an impact on how the whole world works as an
American author Charles Haanel referred to it as
“the greatest and the most infallible law upon
which the entire system of creation depends” in
1912. The law of attraction functions based on
our thoughts. The law states that “like attracts like”,
which means that our thoughts, beliefs, and
emotions attract corresponding experiences and
outcomes into our lives. Our mind is like a magnet.
We are standing in a field, holding a magnet. As we
move the magnet around, it attracts any nearby
metal objects to it. The closer the metal object is to
the magnet, the stronger the attraction becomes
until the metal object is eventually drawn to the
magnet. In a similar way, the power of attraction
works by attracting energy to us based on our
thoughts, beliefs, and emotions. Just like the
magnet, our thoughts and emotions attract
experiences and outcomes that match them. The
more we focus on a particular thought or emotion,
the stronger the attraction becomes until it
eventually manifests in our lives. Basically,
everything that happens in our lives is a result of
the thoughts and images we hold in our minds. If
we focus on positive thoughts, we attract positive
experiences and vice versa. In order to make us
better understand, the author even compares us to a
transmission tower. Do you know how the
transmission tower works? Similar to a television
station’s transmission tower, which broadcasts
pictures via a frequency, our thoughts transmit a
vibrational frequency that creates pictures of our
life. Our thoughts create the frequency, which
attracts corresponding experiences and outcomes,
and broadcasts them back to us as pictures of our
lives. If we want to change anything in our lives,
we need to change the channel by changing our
thoughts. Just like we select a channel to see
different pictures on our television, we need to
choose our thoughts intentionally to attract
different experiences and outcomes in our lives.
Remember that the frequency we transmit reaches
beyond cities, beyond countries, and beyond the
world, reverberating throughout the entire Universe.
Humans never stop thinking. However, according
to the author, in today’s society, we are thinking
more about what we don’t want instead of what we
do want. But the law of attraction doesn’t recognize
words of negation such as “don’t,”“not,” or “no.”
As we use words of negation, the law of attraction
receives them as positive thoughts, which can
attract unwanted experiences into our lives. For
example, if I think that I don’t want to fail or won’t
be alone, the law receives the topic of “fail” and
“loneliness”. Therefore, it is important to change
the way we think and be mindful of the words we
use and focus on expressing what we do want
rather than what we don’t want. Take Robert,
mentioned in the book, as an example. Robert was
a gay man who faced discrimination and abuse in
his job, on the street, and even during his stand-up
comedy routines. He felt unhappy and hopeless
about his situation until he learned about the law of
attraction. The author advised him to focus on what
he wanted rather than what he didn’t want. He
stopped keeping talking about “discrimination” and
“abuse” and changed his way of thinking to be
more positive. Within six to eight weeks of
