❖ The total enrolment of students has been dropped by over a crore in 2023-24 as
compared to the previous years
❖ In 2018-19, the total enrolment of students in school was 26.02 crore, which
increased in 2019-20 by 1.6% and crossed 26.45 crore.
❖ This was an increase of more than 42 lakh students.
❖ The enrolments slightly fell in 2020-21 as compared to 2019-20.
❖ In 2021-22 as compared to 2020-21, total enrolment increased by 0.76%.
❖ Even according to data from back in 2012-13, the total enrolment was 26.3 crore.
❖ In 2022-23, there was a drop in enrolment with 25.18 crore students being
registered and there was a further fall in 2023-24 to 24.8 crore in the total
enrolment.
❖ This was a drop of 6% (nearly 1.22 crore students) as compared to 2018-19.
❖ In 2018-19, 13.53 crore boys were enrolled, this saw a drop to 12.87 crore
enrolments in 2023-24 a decrease of 4.87%.
❖ While enrolment of girls decreased from 12.49 crore in 2018-19 to 11.93 crore in
2023-24, a decrease of 4.48%.
❖ Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra saw among the highest drop in the
enrolments.
❖ In Telangana, Punjab, West Bengal, Haryana, Gujrat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu,
Delhi and Bihar, the percentage of available schools is significantly less as
compared to enrolled students, indicating better utilisation of infrastructure
❖ The representation of minorities in total enrolment stood at around 20 per cent.
❖ Among the minorities, 79.6 per cent were Muslims, 10 per cent Christians, 6.9
per cent Sikhs, 2.2 per cent Buddhists, 1.3 per cent Jains, and 0.1 per cent
Parsis.
❖ At the national level, 26.9 per cent students registered in UDISE+ were from the
general category, 18 per cent from Scheduled Caste, 9.9 per cent from Scheduled
Tribe, and 45.2 per cent from the Other Backward Class category.
Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam 2024
❖ The Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam 2024 was passed by the Lok Sabha on
09.08.2024 and by Rajya Sabha on 05.12.2024.
❖ As per the Central Government, the 1st day of January, 2025 the provisions of
the said Act, shall come into force.
❖ This legislative reform aimed at modernizing India’s aviation sector by re-enacting
the Aircraft Act, 1934, in alignment with the contemporary needs and the global
standards.
