relatively young, having been published in 2017. By analyzing circulation data, it would have
been possible to determine whether the damaged volumes should have been added to the
replacement list based on usage information. The House of Mystery (2007) and Wicked Lovely
(2010) are much older, both aging the collection, and would need exceptional circulation
statistics to justify replacement.
Duplicate copies of Noragami: Stray God 13 and Fire Force 12 were weeded; it is
unlikely that multiple copies of these mid-arc volumes are needed, and it appeared they were the
only duplicates within their respective series. If circulation data dictated that multiple copies of
these volumes were necessary, it would have been possible to keep them in the collection, but
without the data there is no reason to assume they should be retained. Finally, Soul Eater vol. 1
was a stand-alone volume in the collection, and rest of the volumes within the series were not
present. Additionally, the entire series of Soul Eater has been superseded by the author
continuing the story in Fire Force (volumes 9-12 of this series were already on the shelves, with
other volumes either missing or checked out).
Upon further review to determine titles that should be replaced, the InuYasha series
provides a strong example. There are 56 volumes across the entire series, which were published
from 1997 through 2011. Yet the physical collection at the library only appeared to have 16
random volumes 28, 34, 37, 39, 41-46, 49-52, 54 and 56, which were mostly published between
2009-2011. It is unclear why most of the final serialized arc was chosen, whether patron interest
drove the acquisition of volumes at the time, or whether these texts are still circulating which is
encouraging librarians to retain this series in the collection. However, because of irrelevance, due
to the age (with the start of the series being published over 25 years ago) and being that the
current holdings appear to be only a small arc of a larger series, all 16 InuYasha books should be
