The Limestone County Commission met in a regular meeting today, at 9:33 a.m. at the
Clinton Street Courthouse Annex, 100 South Clinton Street, Athens, Alabama.
Present: Daryl Sammet, Johnny Turner, Derrick Gatlin, and LaDon Townsend. Absent:
None. Collin Daly, Chairman presided.
The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance.
MOTION was made by Daryl Sammet and seconded by Johnny Turner to approve the
minutes of January 21, 2025.

acceptance of grant funds in the amount of approximately $55,000.00 from Homeland
Security/ALEA for EMA for the purchase of LED light towers, generator, a cargo trailer.
Grant application was previously approved April 1, 2024. This is a reimbursement grant.

Commissioner Sammet urged citizens to stay off roads during the potential winter
weather.
Commissioner Turner expressed appreciation to District 2 workers for cleaning up fallen
trees.
Commissioner Gatlin urged citizens to use caution if they must get out on the roads during
the potential winter weather.
Commissioner Townsend urged citizens to use caution if they must get out on the roads

out to help with the animal shelter. In closing, Commissioner Townsend congratulated
Reed Blankenship and the Philadelphia Eagles on winning the Superbowl and asked for
prayers for his family due to the loss of a family member.
Chairman Daly congratulated Reed Blankenship and the Philadelphia Eagles on winning
the Superbowl. He also thanked Bryant Bank for sponsoring free adoptions at the animal
shelter. In addition, Chairman Daly gave an update on community events.
