Learn about the USA Mission Experience
Highlights from the 2023 U.S.A. Mission
Experience (USAME) to the U.S.A.–Mexico
border are available in the November/De-
cember 2023 issue of Horizons. See page 12
to learn more! If you are planning to invite
one or more of the USAME participants to
share her experience on the Experience,
then plan to ofer a copy (or ve!) of
Horizons for the audience. Save 50% on item HZN23250 with
coupon code PWUSAME23.
Special note: “Standing on the Shoulders of
Empowered Women” was the theme of the 2019
USAME to the Finger Lakes Region of New York.
This region with its unique geography and
unique peoples was the birthplace of seismic
social reform (including women’s sufrage
and abolition) and new religious movements
and inspired ery religious fervor. In the
November/December 2019 Horizons (focused on
the 2019 USAME) Lois Carter writes, “The Finger Lakes area has
been and continues to be a meeting point and turning point for
many people.” Covid-19 put a stop to many plans, including some
plans to invite a PW participant from this Experience to share
about what she learned. If you would like to learn more about the
2019 USAME (or extend an invitation to a participant), save 50%
on the November/December 2019 Horizons (item HZN19250) with

2024 Annual
Mission Fund
Each of us has a role
in building a strong
nancial base for PW,
whether as a donor, promoter or leader who coordinates giving.
Did you know that PW’s Annual Mission Fund (previously
known as the Mission Pledge) makes possible every mission and
ministry of Presbyterian Women? Traditionally received in PW
groups, PW’s Annual Mission Fund is also built through individ-
ual gifts from Presbyterian women and their loved ones, which
increasingly has become a strong source of support.
The 2024 Annual Mission Fund resource is a multi-panel fold-
out (think: map) that is compact and impactful! Available to
order (or download) from the PW Shop, this resource brightens
bulletin boards and resource tables, and illumines presentations
and discussions about the whys and hows of PW support and
stewardship. PWR23011, free

Presbyterian Women’s 2023 United States Mission Experience (USAME) to the Border
Presbyterian Women’s 2023 USA Mission Experience brought together 18 Presbyterian women, representing multiple
synods, who traveled to Arizona and Mexico to learn about the lives of those who live in the borderlands, and to encounter and
respond faithfully to the human experience of migration, border enforcement, and detention. The November/December 2023
Horizons magazine is dedicated to the USAME. Within the pages of this issue, readers will find:
Definitions and reflections pertaining to immigration and the migration experience.
Insights on shifting borders and the patchwork of legislation and practices that govern how, where and when people can
enter the U.S., written by Mark Adams, PCUSA mission co-worker.
An article about Tucson’s Southside Presbyterian Church mission of sanctuary and support for migrants and asylum seekers.
Action ideas (personal as well as local) and links for further exploration.
Participant reflections.
Save a little, share a lot!
If you or your group or church is inviting a USAME participant to give a presentation*, then consider making available extra copies of

The Churchwide Gathering program book is more than a road map (or GPS!) of
Gathering events and their corresponding times. The program book finds new
life in synod and presbytery gatherings across the country, providing worship
and workshop ideas, and more. What Gathering attendee doesn’t have her program
book stashed as a reminder of good days spent in fellowship with good friends in the
faith? In other words, the program book becomes a highly regarded and appreciated
resource for years to come!
With that in mind, the pages of the 2024 Churchwide Gathering program book
will expand to provide Presbyterian women with the opportunity to express
thanks, admiration, good humor and invitation to one another with PW personal
space ads!
Ideas? Honor your PW sisters! Send a prayer for your voting reps! Bring greetings
from afar! Pay homage to those members of the Great Cloud of Witnesses who
continue to inspire your faith journey! Share information about your presbyterys
upcoming plans! The 2024 Churchwide Gathering program book is your
opportunity to express what is in your heart.
